This university has several opptions when it comes to off-campus housing and and most of them are in immediate distance to campus. I choosed to live with friends in an appartment complex that was very social.
Living in dorms has its disadvantages but it convenient way to arrange housing and daily meals

The housing at NIU was not perfect but good enough. One big minus was the lack of air conditioning during the early fall. The price was also quite high.
