Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why?
My second semester in Singapore I moved into an apartment outside the school, which was both cheap and of good standard. But the newest student housing on campus is of good standard and you get to know a lot of locals and international by staying on campus, so there is no need to rent apartments outside the school.

Personal comments
The newest housing was of good standard and had fast internet access. It is highly recommended if you also want to meet new people.

Singapore is a great hub for travelling in the region. It is easy to travel both within Singapore and to other countries. Everyone is very helpful if there is anything you are wondering about.

The official business language in Singapore is English. The official language is Malay, but the majority of the population speaks mandarin. I did only learn a few important phrases in Malay and Mandarin, but there was no problems getting around with just speaking English.

Singapore has four official languages: English, Chinese(Mandarin), Malay and Tamil(Indian). Singaporean speak english in their own way, they speak "singlish". In the beginning I found it difficult to understand singlish but I now I have learned to understand it pretty well. I have also studied chinese during my time here. The possibility to learn chinese was one of the reasons why I chose to go to Singapore.

I was not in the campus of NTU. However, some friends commented it was improving and the air conditioning was being installed. On the other hand, it was really cheap.

Go there if you can and if you can handle being in an Asian culture. I absolutely loved it.
