During classes I used french language but in social life it was english. So totally I improved both of them.

It was not a problem to communicate and to understand people there, however I did not have enough contact to French people/students so I spoke more English than French during the year.

I took classes in both French and English, but I am fluent in French so I had no problems. If you don't speak French very well, be ready to deal with some very frustrating situations

as I had already been learning french at school and spent a trimestre at a french lycée I didn't have many difficulties when arriving and was able to progress a lot during my stay
