I wish I had known...

I would have liked to know which courses could be recognized as equivalent with courses at the home university.

travelling through canada is easy and really amazing (landscpe, outdoor activities etc)you shouldn't miss the indian summer and the national parks

You get roughly two canadian dollar for one quid. Canada is quite cheap, even Montreal!

You have to get a health insurance when going to Montreal and a double visa, one for Canada and one especially for Quebec. This will set you back a few hundred dollars. Hmm.. other than that, there werent that many financial surprises except for the trip to Miami. Be sure to do some travel whilst in Canada but remember that the US is much more expensive and you dont want to dig too deep of a hole in your wallet before university hasnt even started...

Montreal is an AMAZING city with a lot to do. There are a ton of international students at McGill and you will meet people from all over the world. The McGill gym is pretty bad... Schwartz is overrated...

If you decide to major in French you pay the Quebec tuition instead of international student tuition!!!

I dont speak french and for some particular reason, I was surprised to find out that not everyone speaks english in Montreal. The further north you get, the less people you are likely to find who speak good english. Overall though, I didnt have any problems with communicating..

Great university, with tremendous diversity of different cultures and 'state-of-the-art' facilities. I'm sure that every student from this university will say the same. So, if you have the opportunity to study at McGill you should really grabe it!

Final comments

Try to experience it really intense, because before you know your time as an exchange student is gone. Soem practical advice. With the international student indentity card (ISIC) you recieve discounts on a lot of items.
