I've been lucky. My appartment was not old and I had a single room. In Olympiacentrum there are bungalows where you have to live with an other Erasmusstudent in one room.
It's a good compromise to share the kitchen with the others and to have a room for oneself. Still it was a little bit painful sometimes to have to share the bathroom with 10 other people.
that we have only 250 euros from the government to help our own resources and only a long time after the end of the semester

Dont fly with Easyjet when you first make the move here as you are only allowed one suitcase and excess baggage charges are huge!

Go to the many flea-markets to get what you can't afford new. The one at the Ostbahnhof is a good bet. Beer is usually the least expensive thing you can drink, soft drinks included!
