Listen to radio station M94,5, excellent uncommercial music. Make the most of the year, it will go very quickly. Do not worry about academic life, professors are kind and helpful to exchange students.

Final comments
Travel to Eastern Europe. Use Mitfahrzentrale (very cheap - carpooling all over Europe). Do the IUC induction course. Do not panic at lack of language skills, just make sure to meet Germans and interact with them and tell them to correct you! Join clubs and or get a job.

Personal spending habits
I spend less on food due to the differences in prices (pound versus euro). more on travel bacause I ski a lot and more on phone because there is no internet access at halls of residence and it is extremely difficult to get the internet access with any of the companies here.

on campus, it was not a prob to me at all, which language i use, english or german. most of the german students speak very good english. in social and community life, english also works but i'd prefer to speak german, which makes it easier for me to get envolved
