Japanese is a very difficult language and it takes a long time to master. There's a point when the time focused on perfecting the language must be balanced with the time spent on the curricular studies and then progress slows down.

Spoken Japanese differs from the Japanese in textbooks I have learned. At first it was hard to use Japanese in my daily life. But by practicing Japanese in all situations rather than using English, I could improve my Japanese language abilities to a high extend.
