If returning, I would choose: With a family
Why?
Even if the life level in Russia is rather low, I was so warmly welcomed that I wouldn't want to change accomodation. And as the family doesn't know any French words, it's a good place to learn the language.

The place was not very modern, but the relationship with the teachers was good and it's the most important for me.
