actually travelling from belgium is not as cheap as some people might think. yes the location is in the center, but i think it would be cheaper if you were travelling from london or frankfurt. there are cheap airplanes like :easy jet, ryan air, wizz air, but all these depart from charleroi so getting there from leuven will cost you around 22 euros return so if taken this into account, it is best just finding a regular plane very quickly.

The student environment is amazing! There are a lot of activities to do for free if you hold a student card. Everything in the town is made thinking about the students.

Cheapest airlines: Ryanair, wizzair, Virgin and Vueling. Rent a bike as soon as you arrive. It is the best by far the best mean of transport in Leuven. Look for a place in the center of the city. All of the action is there. Study during the semester. The professors are demanding. Being an international student is not an excuse in Leuven! Have fun!

KUL is an excellent university and everything that happens in Leuven revolves around the students, I think it is the perfect place to go for a ERASMUS or a postgraduate program. I would do it again tomorrow if I had the opportunity!!

Travel: Belgium has lots of beautiful towns, Brugge and Gent can not be missed. Paris and Amsterdam are very close. Trains are not expensive and very convenient, get a Go-Pass if you are under 26. Go to "Pangaea" to have a coffee and meet the people over there. Definetively: Rent a bike at Velo for all your stay.
