That while at Kansai Gaidai there would be more students from the US than any other nation, most of them weating cat-ears to class.

Don't go. If you can go anywhere else, go. If not, travel as much as you can -- if it's got nothing else going for it, Kansai Gaidai has one of the best locations in Japan.
