At the beginning it is important to establish relationships with students from other nationalities, within the academic year you use it in order to give technical accurate explanation. Eventually English it was the main channel of communication.

Usually you don't find english translations for the services you get in town or around. This includes the basic ones like bank, postal, health related services. I belive this makes your 'culture shock' experience as a new comer worse.

My overall language experience was really good. It was a useful experience which helped me to improve my language, both the technical language at university and the spoken language, in everyday life, that is now more fluent.
