It is very good if you get a roon in a student residence. This is usually the case, but sometime they put up people in rented rooms at private houses which is not so good.
It is really hard to find accomodation on your own. If you plan to go to Stockholm, provide yourself with accomodation before you arrive there.

I wish I had known...
It is good to try to find activities mixing local and international students (courses, sport...) so that the contacts with local people is eased. Try to apply for an intensive Swedish course from home, so that you don't have to wait one semester to start the language course (long waiting list).

It is a very good university with high level courses and a good reputation inside and outside Sweden. The Master programs are intensive but interesting and rewarding.

Tip: try to prepare your documents for the Resident permit application from home (certificate of financial means, social and personal insurance certificates), you will save time.
Visit the neighbour Scandinavian countries.

was more expensive than at home.
Accessibility of student needs
Second-hand household items
Personal comments
For students who like to go out i recommend not to choose bars and clubs which are expensive, because there are a lot of bars that are good and have good music but are cheaper. Talk with local community and you will find great (cheaper) places.
Avoid going to the restaurant very often. Cook at home and take your own food at university (that's what local people do too).

Personal comments
The host university was very receptive to their foreign students and I was at rather ease with everything. However, there was a constant learning of habits and attitudes of the people around me that made the experience so enthralling. Understanding people and their different social customs and how to adapt accordingly was my biggest gains in studying in a foreign location.
