i didn't speak portuguese at all before I came to Lisbon, but after 1 month I was able to communictae a little bit. At the end I could say (sometimes using my hands also) what I wanted to say. Portuguese is difficult in pronunciation, but not so difficult in grammar.

Portuguese people when they see someone trying to speak Portuguese they are very nice to that person. If you speak Spanish it helps a lot in communication.
