The cost of living in India is lower than in switzerland. Therefore, food, housing and nightlife is cheap.
I spent egual with the telephone as I mainly use skype to speak with friends and family regardless of being in a country or in anothe one.
As for the travel costs, they were more than at home because it was one of my aims to visit and discover this fascinating country.

Food and Housing on campus is very cheap. I used to call Austria with my Indian cellphone, what is not really expensive, but naturally not that cheap like in Austria.
