It is a pity that the courses were held in English, I would have prefered to study in Hungarian, but the overwhelming majority of Erasmus students were not interested in Hungarian and so the courses were held in English.

Most of the people at the faculty spoke good english but average english knowledge on the streets of Budapest was not that good and it was difficult sometimes to communicate with people in day-life situations

Everything was so much cheaper than home. Even food was 1/2 of the price.Metro-month card was 1/10 of the price in Norway, and the cafe/nightlife was ca. 1/4 of the Norwegian prices...I really felt extreamly rich.

Do get the deposit back when you leave...or you will never see it again. Do not listen for "I'll send you the deposit when I get the TLF - and EL-bill. This kind of bill you get when you call there. It's done in one minute.

good oppertunity to get to know a lot of exchange students if you are sharing a flat with other exchange students or opportunity to get to know people of host country if living with a domestic student

the general price level is inferior to the Austrian one. Means of transport are extremely cheap for students. Also nightlife is half price :-)

Be cautious with international bank transactions denominated in HUF, my home bank charged me 20EUR and also the receiving Hungarian Bank charged me 20EUR for a transaction of 40000HUF = 160EUR, do only EUR denominated transactions, then banks are not allowed to charge anything
