As at home I live with my parents, I dont pay rent or for my food. Nightlife and travel was cheaper in France, so I spent less, even though I went out more.

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Undecided
Why?
There are pluses and minuses to the housing options. Dorms are nice cause they are near campus and with the majority of students. Unfortunately they are a fair distance away from downtown Rouen, which can be a real pain at night, and it inconvenient for discovering the city. An apartment with French students is the best, but there is no help in finding a good one. There are student studios downtown, but they are ridiculously expensive, and you will almost certainly not make friends in them. Most of the French students are very introverted in their housing.

I had an apartment downtown which was really nice and convenient. Unfortunately my roommate was a douche.

Most of my classes were in English because I was concerned about my pressure for grades, but taking the classes in english basically made everything extremely easy.

If you want the best pub in the place, try O'Kallaghans. This is the best pub in Rouen, with the best, if not perviest barmen in Rouen! Try flashing your boobs for a free bottle of wine!!
If you are stll standing at the end of the night, the kiosk is a really cheesy joint that you can boogie all night long.

I spent more in all of these categories because of the difference in the U.S. dollar/euro exchange rate, and also because my living location and the nightlife tends to be expensive in general.

The exchange rate was not good for the U.S. dollar, which really adds up when you consider how much you are spending. I would suggest buying groceries as much as possible as opposed to dining out, and spend less money at the bar by indulging in French wine that can be cheaper than water.
