Though expensive, HKUST campus has really good facilities and is wonderfully located.

Housing on campus is the easiest way to stay in touch with all the other students.

Housing is organized by the host university, which is very convenient, furthermore it is also very cheap, however, the rooms are very small and don't allow any privacy. Facilities like bathrooms and kitchen are not well equipped and maintained.

Lan Kwai Fong is a great place, and there are tons of fun bars and clubs throughout Hong Kong and Kowloon. Guide books are generally right when explaining where the hot spots are.
