Personal recommendation
I was in an unusual department for the university since they are a primarily technical university. I would recommend trying to get in touch with current students to see how they feel about the program

The best cafe is the Elephant House on George IV Bridge and the best cinema is the Filmhouse on Lothian Road. With regard to nightlife, I quite like the downstairs of the Negociants on Potterrow. The Edinburgh International Festival in August must not be missed!!

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Sharing a house allows one to meet a great deal more natives than staying on campus where exchange students tend to hang out together.

Personal comments
The university campus is about 6 miles from the centre of Edinburgh, so living on campus one misses out on a lot of the action.
