Before i arrived in Australia my English was good (IELTS: 7.5 overall score). I did not experienced any communication problems, obviously i did not understand some slang words but even British or Americans have problems understanding Aussie slang.

I had lived in enlgand so i had a very good idea on how to approach a conversation. Nevertheless, the exposure to a different accetn and in a way different culture traits, incresed my undertanding of the overall use of english

Since I speak English and it is the Australian national language, I had no problems communicating. In the very beginning, it took a little while to understand the accent and slang, but that didn't take long to get used to.

As I study in English in my home University, my English was already pretty good before I went there, but I learned heaps of new words, meanings and sayings, maybe my accent improved aswell...

I didn't have problems with the language before I went to Australia, but at first I had to cope with the australian slang, which is different to the british and the american slang.

I knew english already before going to exchange. Of course I could improve it a little bit and it got better.
