Personal comments
I realised it is not needed to speak German in Germany in most of the situations. This was a big problem for learning the local language. Besides, we formed a quite big group of Spanish people, so we spent much time talking Spanish also.
I had the opportunity to learn some German in three courses, two of them counting as subjects in my home university.
I also had the opportunity to manage with spoken German in daily situations.
Regarding to my English, I practised it a lot with foreign people all along a year; besides, I also attended an advanced English course at the Fachhochschule Ulm, and I was working 7 months in an English speaking company.
