The university doesn't offer accommodation and apartments aren't very hard to find in Milan. There are tons of students there in the same situation so therefore there are many opportunites for great apartments. It would also be helpful to live with Italians if sharing as this will help you with the language and any customs/traditions.

As mentioned earlier, the university doesn't offer accommodation so you'll have to find it yourself, however, this isn't extremely hard to do.

Try buying food in bulk at large supermarkets rather than the local grocery stores, will save you money. Also a metropass (17 Euros/month) is extremely useful.. try not to live too far away from the city center, rent might be cheaper but you'll spend a lot on transportation.

As an international student,it is important to make an effort to meet with other students.I ask alot of questions,about banks,restaurants etc.It is a wonderful experience.

Organise some more school activities in order to generate a feeling of connection to that school. A large part of the things I did in Milan and the reat of Italy, I organised with my friends from campus or alone. Unfortunately there is not really a connection with Uni.

Do some travelling, Sicily in specific.
If you want, you can find a lot of international students in Milan. If, however, you want to improve your language skills and take dive into the real Italian way of living, I suggest you hook up with Italians. Get over that treshold of speaking Italian, we all make mistakes and it doesn't matter.

In two weeks I got to know about 70 people and with no background in the language of the country I went to, my language skills improved quickly by simply having to talk the language.

At first it was difficult as Italian's hardly speak any English, however I quickly learned basic phrases within a few weeks and was able to cope. By the end of the year I was pretty much fluent. Oh and watching Italian TV definitly works!
