I traveled a lot more than in France, I was eager to discover my environment and other cultures, so I spent most of my funds in it. Nevertheless, evryday living there is a lot cheaper than in France, so it balanced my overall budget.

One huge good surprise: the semesterticket (cost: 80€), which allows every student during one semester to go other limits and completely freely through the whole länder and Berlin. Very good t(r)ip!

Difficult to find a job - Nightlife is dead... only way to not be bored is to buy lots of alcohol everyday.

The cost of life is lower in former east germany, and Frankfurt Oder is at the border with Poland. So many people go shopping in Poland. Berlin is also a cheap city, with cheap nightlife.

Live on polish side (much, much cheaper, and it takes 20 minutes walk), and buy food on german side and than you save the money for travling to Berlin or Krakow.
