nightlife was quiet expensive on the long run as we were going out a lot, housing is more relatively expensive in Barcelona; Food is cheaper than in Germany or Austria; flat: about 350 otherwise its not nice;

Accommodation very expencive in Barcelona. Travel is cheap, even the times we rented cars to go around the country was quite cheap.

Be sure to have good health insurance. Be sure to register at the police & immigration offices if you are to study in Spain for more than a few months (it saves a lot of trouble - and money - should you become ill or have an injury)

In general, these expenses are much greater than those in New Zealand. Also we come over here with a very weak dollar making our money disappear a lot quicker!

Accomodation was not as expensive as I had anticipated. A lot more than New Zealand but still this was a pleasnat surprise to not have to pay as much as originally thought.

At the time, the exchange rate favored the dollar significantly. However, after visiting Barcelona again this past summer, I noticed that the cost of living is just much lower, especially in terms of food and nightlife.

Day to day living is very low cost in Barcelona. My biggest expense came from traveling. This can get expensive, although the costs can go down depending on how much you plan ahead and what sacrifices you're willing to make.
