housing were harder to find than imagined - many want tenents to stay longer than a semester, which made it a bit harder to find a nice place.

The local (catalan) students at ESADE tend to be a bit snobbish and somewhat hard to get in contact with. But there is a great Norwegian "community" at this university that you should get in touch with, especially for cultural activities and nightlife experience! Also nearby university IESE (across the street basically) has a lot of foreign students.

Join some of the cultural and sports activities as soon as possible. Good for language training, making contacts and finding people to party with. Take initiative and form your own groups, fx a dancing group, food group, health center & aerobics group...etc. Do not choose to live in Sitges, even though the apartment prices during winter are low there. It takes too long to travel into town, you get isolated from social activities. Don´t choose downtown either, the area around Ramblas is too "heavy" and noisy to be able to study in. Fun to visit - bad to live there!

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
I was happy with my apartment in Barcelona. Rents are reasonable in the city compared to other large European cities and it is easy to find others to share with if you want. Quality of accomodation is generally better than school-sponsored housing.

Personal comments
The housing sponsored by ESADE was generally for undergraduate-age students. It is located in a nice area on a hill overlooking the city. I did eat there on several occasions and the food was very good quality considering it is student accomodation.

Go as an undergraduate. If you are CEMS, pick somewhere else.

It teaches in Castellano, which is excellent to learn the language. Therefore, however, the english language skills of the staff as well as the students, are quite unsatisfactory, although they do not seem to notice themselves. So for their sake, english should be more widely used and taught.

When you arrive, go and find the barcelona housing service. It´s on internet, the university knows about it, as well as any other information point. This service provides housing for students, in international houses. I used it, too. Great experience!

The university is very small, but this makes it much easier to interact with teachers. Barcelona is just a great city and I would recommend you going there.

Check out the universities (also others) to find a room, especially if you want to live together with Spanish students. Most still live at home, but they put up a lot of announcements in the universities/intranet.
