The café Paris is a good place to go after a night on the town. I would also like to recommend quilombo, a local bar that plays a lot of live spanish music.

Why?
The standard of rented accommodation is dire and the prices are sky-high. Anyone used to North European or American standards will be shocked at the awful state of most rented accommodation in Barcelona and the unreasonably high rents.

There is ESADE's student residence but it is a bleak, unattractive environment-presumably a carry-over from the austere monk-like preferences of ESADE's founders (Ignacio de Loyola, the Order's founder spent a long time musing in a cave on the outskirts of Manresa and whipping himself). The residence is only marginally more enjoyable.
