phoning home is pretty expensive, housing is - dependent on the level of comfort you are looking for - pretty much the same in bangkok than in vienna...

Vaccinations in my home country are very expensive. If you don't plan to travel just after your arrival in Thailand you can get vaccinations in Bangkok.

generally everything is cheaper than in austria, but exp.: travel (I traveled more in comparison to austria that's why I spend more money...)

thai is pretty difficult if you don't have a language course. chula offers it only at the beginning of the academic year, so not for thouse that arrive in 2nd or 3rd trimester's time...
