Egypt, Undergraduate
Medicine, 1999
Overall
The study of medicine is difficult with many practical, oral and written exams.
The teachers speak mixed Arabic and English, so the international students reliant only on English will have issues relying on the formal education process. They will probably need to hire a private tutor to speak in English.
The examination process improved a lot since they started including MCQs. There will be difficulties speaking to patients who hardly know any English.
The student life is rich in Cairo, with opportunities to make friends and tour the country, which is by nature tourist friendly.

Review about the Faculty
Nader S
Egypt, Undergraduate
Medical Sciences, 2021
Overall
The curriculum is much improved in the last 2 years, and even before, The majority of teachers and doctors, and to speak honestly in my own university, are really advanced in showing new ways and methods to deliver the info included in the major, and they are really concerned about the practical study more than theoretical study methods, which made a huge difference in the past 6 years of Faculty of Science - Cairo University.

Overall
usually every university thinks they’re the best..

As for cairo university, yes i have heard of it being the oldest university in egypt.. and then i thought okay? What’s so special there..

Then I got enrolled, in master degree, dentistry departments. (Which only got accepted because of financial reasons)

And for what i have imagined versus the reality.. it surprised me, didn’t shock me, but disappointed me.

I’ve been to places where they really care about innovating and cleaning the environment.. but oh dear lord, the neglect and disgust of the campus, stairs, windows, lecture rooms and CLINICS! is awful!

Second, the teachers/doctors, student and staff,
To be fair there are few who makes you feel welcomed, and appreciated..

But the teachers.. the discrimination, bias in their behaviour either spoken or unspoken, IT IS AS OBVIOUS AS THE SUN and yet they deny it!

1st favouritism among genders!
2nd discrimination by ethnicities!!
3rd discrimination bases on “grades” !!!

And the more i realised all of this racism and how it’s branching , devastates me..

I got asked so many times , why did i come here? To cairo, and cairo university..

And oh dear, the need for a master degree.. what made me come here,  not your “university” not your people. None.
If i had another choice i’d definitely get out of this hell hole.

As for for their education, it’s not the best! As they think.. and very inconsiderate of different learning backgrounds of each individual.

Even if you want new ‘foreign” student to learn your methods, it’ takes steps and times, no need for inferior behaviours, gloating & make them feel inferior due to that.. and above it treat them accordingly!

What stuck with mw the most, recently (on our first final exam!)
one student (which was egyptian) made a huge mistake and was disrespectful… the days before,
They gathered us and bla bla.. then the non-sense happened,

How can you pin it on all the others, and suddenly decide only the “smarter” students get to enter the exam!!!!!!!!!
I myself a very respectful, kind person, never was late on a class, always do my requirements.. and do my best to learn!

Their approach to the situation wasn’t good at all, if they thought it would impact something, it would impact Hate, and how racist they are, how disrespectful ! They are. and how emotionally damaging!
such situation confused me, as it was about respect, then  turned into division based on grades or who’s better than who!

all i can say and do is pray God , eventually what goes around comes back around. حسبي الله و نعم الوكيل
