Why?
Save money, rental are very expensives in Boston. As when sharing with romates, you are not alone and can have the support from someone knowing the city.

Personal comments
On campus housing is only for ndergrad.
Off campus is expensive and can be far away from Boston College (in Brighton), which is annoying because the Tramway line doesn't go every where so you need a car.

Because it is a very valuable experience (with a roomate) and because it allows you to disconnect from the classes.
