Uppsala universitet offers students housing at Flogsta, Rackarberget or Kantorsgatan. All of them are well equipped, even though only Rackarberget is the only one in the city center. For people willing to bike (often done here), living outside the center is no problem, however.

Travel as much as you can (Russia, Finland, Norway, Denmark, Lapland).
Be prepared for the cold, snow, ice :)

Katalin Jazz Club: good music. O'connor pub: good beer (brewed in uppsala as well). Don't miss valborg fest. Take pleny of pictures...you will miss Uppsala (as I do even after years)
