Australia is a good place to travel. If you are a little gruop of people you can buy a very cheep car. There are very cheep cars for backpackers...perfect to travel on the road; you can resell it at the end of the experience. Burocracy to buy and sell the car is extremly efficent.
To rest during your trip don't esitate to stop in some hostel...they are very cheap; to do this it's a good thing to have a book guide.

The australian english is pretty different from the USA and UK one. At the begin was quite difficult to understand everything.
For a better improvement of your lenguage avoid as much as you can people of your home country.
