The small, hidden italian-style cafe was my favorite stop before or after classes with a friend. Traveling by any means is affordable as long as you share the costs with people you meet. At the end of Rundle Mall, pick up some sushi rolls after 9 p.m. and get them half price, then head to the Austral, best pub in town. For a night Saturday, browse the markets and spend the day walking the best botanic gardens in Australia. (And this is just Adelaide!)

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
It was a wonderful experience. I lived with two others, one French, one Chinese. I found the townhouse two weeks after arriving, up until living in a backpackers/hostel. My living arrangement could not have been better!

There is no housing through the university. All students find housing independently depending on how close they would like to live to their campus.

Languages
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't.
Language difficulties
Administrative / Institutional
Personal comments
My native language is English and Australia is as well. I did not face a language barrier, but I made many many European friends who I helped with their English and they taught me a bit of all their languages. The challenges of this experience were not lingual, they were related to personal growth, developing my character, doing it alone without a set program.

Academic
Course recommendations
I took photography and fine arts courses, because I would love to design or write for a travel, art or food/wine magazine. My photography teachers were FANTASTIC. The resources are incredible, new and always available for student loan.

Much much more because I travelled everywhere in Australia and New Zealand you can imagine. It was worth every dime, every single one. The experience -- I could talk about it for ages, it was like no other.

Personal comments
Absolutely! I "relocated" campervans for heaps of the travelling I did. You can call all the companies two weeks before you plant to travel and see if they need vehicles relocated to another city -- FOR FREE and often including petrol reimbursements! It was the BEST way to travel, no accommodation, petrol, transportation, just food and excursion costs!

Overall
I wish I had known...
I can't speak enough about travelling Australia. Of everyone I know, I by far saw this country in and out and somehow managed to get a semester's credit. The people I met I still talk to almost on a daily basis. Australia seems more of my home than Ohio, and I was only there six months. I'd recommend it to anybody.

Important factors in my choice
(1) Unimportant – (4) Very important
Personal recommendation
UniSA has specific programs, make sure you know what you want to study before attending! Otherwise, there is a neighboring university with more options!

Final comments
It's hard to put it into writing, believe me I've tried. Don't pass it up, that's really all I have. Oh, AND book your flight weeks and weeks after the semester ends to travel even more. It's worth seeing this place. I'm not hesitant to call it a paradise.
