Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
I'd choose an apartement to be close to the city. Campus is too far away from the city.

Accommodation at UNF was ok. You can choose to share an accommodation with 3 other students (from the same sex!), and that's the cheaper solution, or you can decide to live in couple. In these 2 cases, you share a living room and the bedroom, and you have a kitchen. The other rooms on campus don't offer you a kitchen, which force you to eat on campus, at the univ. restaurant...and that's expensive!

Student life
Describe host city:
Students interact with the local community without much university involvement

Activities: Takes place mostly within the university/student environment
Travel, Nightlife: Takes place mostly outside the university/student environment
Personal social experience
Personal comments
There was a latino night club where we could dance salsa and meet many south american people...the rest of the clubs in Jacksonville were not that interesting. I'd say that the atmosphere was far from being exciting; the latino club was the best place so far. In Jacksonville, they don't know how to party...mainly due to the US law and the aggressivity of the police.

Academic
Course recommendations
Interesting courses were Marketing on the internet and International Management, which were taught by well advised teachers.

Personal comments
An improvement could be realised on the price of textbooks; which are too expensive and impossible to find on campus, at the library. International students may be penalised if they are not aware of the high costs of the textbooks, which are the only academic support.

In my opinion:
Stay home.
Important factors in my choice
(1) Unimportant – (4) Very important
Personal recommendation
Proposed courses are interesting and teachers available. For this reason, you can go to this university. If you think you'll have fun over there, you might be wrong; campus is too far from Jacksonville, and Jacksonville is not attractive at all.

Jacksonville is located in the North of Florida, which is well known for being the predilected place of rich seniors who desire to retire in peace. This is why life was more expensive than at home.

I'd recommend to bring traveler-ch. and cash and not use the ATM, which suck commissions. Fruits, vegetables and fresh ingredients were too expensive and had no taste! OGM surprise!

Languages
Language of instruction: English
Was learning English a key decision factor?
Yes, I wanted to improve my English
How much did you improve your English?
My level before: At ease in most situations
My level after: At ease in most situations
Language difficulties
Administrative / Institutional
Personal comments
I spoke english most of the time except with the people from my country. Regarding the courses, the local language did not give me a hard time. Most of the foreigners try to speak english to each other, which prevent the others from speaking their own language.
