Malta is a very small country, so a student will have plenty of time to find everything she/he wants to. The best cities: Valletta, Mdina, Hamrun, Sliema. Valletta - the capital - amazing city. Mdina is the old capital, definitely go to Fontanella tea garden there, they have delicious chocolate and banana cakes! Hamrun is a typical Maltese town, with lots of small local shops. The best chocolaterie is there, not far from the main church. Sliema is the shopping city. Night spot is the only one - Paceville - few streets with all the clubs, pubs, bars on them. Good Irish beer and peeps at O'Ryan's (Spinola bay), rnb dance - Havana, cheap alcohol - almost everywhere. Also definitely go to Gozo (second island, absolutely wonderful) and Comino (third island with only a hotel on it).

Housing
Type of housing: University Residence, after appartment
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
It is possible to get cheaper appartments then the residence, with better locations and facilities. Also it is quite in your own appartment and you do not have to study with the eternal noise outside your window.

University Residence - that's what they offer usually. Well, located in the middle of the island in a posh area. There is a free bus service from the residence to uni every hour or something. Pretty expensive, the rooms are tiny but they have almost already connected the internet to each of them where u can use the university account so u do not have to pay for the internet at all. The staff is very helpful. Always lots of people around parting, swimming in the pool, yelling, cooking, making lots of noise. Not a good place for studies! BUT a good place to get to know people and make good friends.

I have to say that Malta has two official languages - Maltese and English. Maltese language looks like a mix of Arabic, English, Italian and French. There was no need to learn Maltese for me as the studies were held in English and everybody understands English there as well. Nevertheless, if the future students want to improve their English, it's better for them to communicate with international students, Maltese people have very funny accent and very often mix words in English and Maltese.

Academic
Course recommendations
I have done MA in Financial Services, Faculty of Laws. Do not really recommend this course as it is a mix of law and finance and thus a bit hard for lawyers when we study finance or for economists when we study law. Nevertheless, the university by itself is pretty bad organised. The Faculty of Laws is the best faculty there. The lecturers are very qualified, although personal factor has a great impact as Malta is a very small state and all locals know each other.

I did not like at all that we had studied some subjects, got for the home readings others and had on the exams absolutely different. This point can be improved.

Malta is an island country and very expensive one. Its lira is one of the most expensive currencies in the world. Maltese islands are mostly rocks so agriculture developed badly. Plus no oil or gas and other stuff. So they have to ship almost everything into the state. Housing though isalmost the same as the appartment in Kyiv. Nightlife is cheaper because the entance to all the clubs is free and drinks are not that expensive as well. Travelling took less coz it is possible go everywhere by bus which is cheap and the trip will not be long at all.

Final comments
It's possible to travel to North Africa and Italy easy from Malta. So you might plan your Europe/Tunisia/Egypt trip. Do not forget an umbrella and sun glasses! It's mostly warm ans sunny, but winters are cold and humid with lots of rain. Yeah, when it is raining, the island is flooded. Very unique experiene.
