This University is an excellent alternative to the larger schools. It is academically challenging, yet also allows time for leisure. There are party opportunities along with sufficient material to learn.

Overall
It's a decent program, although you have to be very self-sufficient. The professors are not the best but the program is cheap and I've learned a lot still.

Simply because in Houston is far, you can't simply walk or take the bus to the grocery store therefore you are forced to buy from a gas station which gets pretty expensive. Since there are a limited number of clubs (nightlife), they charged much money because they know they'll still get business. The books are ridiculously expensive so is healthy food. Grocerey is much more expensive and tastes and lokks artificial.

Always, always and always. There are much much surprises. I think this one of the factors which truely makes me hate American life. The bank charges you crazy money each time you have atransaction. The service sucks extremely, specially at Bank of America. I believe the most student friendly bank would be Washington Mutual, leave the others alone. Bills, Bills & more unexpected bills. Electric bill are always full of surprises, they send you many bills twice or even three time so you pay them more. UNBELIEVABLE! It is almost impossible to save up money as intl' student. There cannot be a day where you don't spend unneccesary money. The Nigerians cab drivers are most crook people I have come across in my life, never, never make the mistake of dealong with them for anything! White americans aswell, specially in the car buying business. Also, please do not trust anyone over there, they don't care about you. They are very superficial and sometimes you can get tricked big time.

I was already living in Houston before going to university. I went to live there when I was 16 with my family. So It wsn't like any exchange program. So if I have to go back I will have my own apartment or house.

Going to an American university was veru enriching. I graduated from a French High School but I was living in the UNited States, so it was very good that I stayed and went to university. I experienced the american campus, I also got to be fluent in English. It was a key part of my studies.
