Brilliant city, disorganised university
William N
United Kingdom,
Literature, 2022
Overall
My time at Edinburgh University was marked by teacher strikes and Covid, so it was never going to be smooth. Despite that, I still maintain that the university did not do enough to support its students through this process. The French department is good, the English department less so, yet in all educational aspects there is far too much of an impersonal approach taken. All of this said, I still loved my time there. The city is wonderful and the resources of the uni are amazing and accessible.

Careers
I did not make use of the careers office that much, but they seemed like they were available for discussion at all times.

Pros
Its resources, opportunities, and place within the city.
Cons
An overly impersonal and disconnected approach to its students and a prioritisiation of money over experience.

Overall, it is good but you should be careful and try to choose a University which is the best related to the field of your studies.

Try to find a student forum before you go to the University and meet people that have already studied and can give you helpful advice. I would advise you to visit the University and meet the University staff before you decide to study there.

Overall
A wide variety of courses on offer, with some fantastic teachers. It's just a shame that the university doesn't care about it's students or teachers as much as it should. A large proportion of the student population is from abroad, so it is really interesting to meet so many new people and to hear about their experiences. I've really enjoyed my time here so far.

A university with a great reputation and with such an international  influence. It's situated in a really beautiful city.
Cons
The university does not care for it's students and teachers as much as it should.
