Do not miss the opportunity to rent a car and go for an on the road California tour! Remember that if you are less than 25 the car insurance is more expensive.
Since being an International student makes it very easy to meet other International people and not that much to get along with Americans whose company helps very much to improve one's communication skills. I suggest to look for some campus activities where it is easier to meet Americans. For ex. I went hiking in Yosemite National Park with the CAL Adventure, it was great! Check it out!

“Bay Area vibes during Berkeley PhD”

Overall
After having graduated from my home university in Germany with both a B.Sc. and a M.Sc., I thoroughly enjoy the academic environment in Berkeley very much. The teaching style is very very different, overall less anonymous and more tailored for students to both get some hands-on experiences as well as get creative themselves. While it is certainly more challenging and the work load is constantly very high, I wouldn't want to miss this experience and would always choose Berkeley again.

“Big school with a place for every sort”

Overall
U.C. Berkeley is a quite big challengewith much intensity, but it's dignity and prestige are important. Coming to school, you truly feel proud and sense of community. Getting used to the surroundings can be time-consuming, you are used to being the smartest person in high school, but now you are the same as everyone else.

The name alone will get you good internships and job interviews
Cons
You pay for the name and it is expensive and high pressure. Too many students.
