Undergraduate student at University of Birmingham
Anna M
Spain, Undergraduate
Philosophy, 2022
Overall
The school does offer a job board however, it is mainly for people who want to work in the UK. As of this year, with Brexit it is more difficult to find a company who will sponsor visas even for EU students. Additionally I wanted to work in France which there are not many job postings on.

Overall
A top-level university providing an excellent education preparing me for the future. Allowed me the opportunity to go on a valuable study abroad year despite still being in the midst of a pandemic, something not done by many other top universities

A bit disappointing
Joukje B
United Kingdom, Graduate
Religion/Theology, 2019
Overall
Coming to Birmingham I had high expectations of the course, as the university is quite acclaimed. It seems, however, that the philosophy and religion department is very underrepresented and disorganised. Most teachers either have too many classes to handle each one properly or are researchers, who are not primarily interested in teaching. Moreover, for each session huge lists of recommended reading are available, leading to either students reading different things or nothing at all, which then stops the progress in class. My course, Politics & Religion, is relatively new which may account for the lack of structure.

Would have been better if local students had mixed with us.
