Pourquoi?
I enjoyed the mixture: living in a house with both native and foreign people, some of whom were students, others were working. I prefer the independence compared with university accomodation.

There is very limited university housing. If you want this type of accomodation, ask for it as soon as possible. Dublin is very expensive for accomodation. Often it is a lot cheaper to share a room with someone. Don't be put off by this, it can be very character building learning to live with a new person, and often it will create an awesome friendship that will last (my old room-mate just came to visit me in Madrid and we are about to arrange a reunion with our whole flat in amesterdam). Also try to get accomodation near the bus route 10, it is the most regular bus out to UCD.
It was a very different teaching style to what I was used to. Skimming many subjects rather than taking a few and actaully understanding them. Mainly lectures and little to no opportunity for real discussion and interaction with the course, fellow students and lecturers.
That it would have been a fuller experience had I gone completely by myself. my boyfriend, who was not a student, came with me and at first it inhibited me from taking full advantage of all the benefits.

The international office have a "buddy" program where you are put into a group with a couple of local Irish students. As an erasmus student it is always hard to interact with locals so take advantage of this. Also there is a fantastic selection of clubs and societies. It's a great way to meet Irish people and learn a new skill at the same time. Many of them organise weekends away so you can have the chance to see the parts of Ireland that Irish people think are worth visiting.

The experience was totally worth it despite not being thrilled by my academical experience. I met so many other international students with a similar outlook on life. we had a lot of fun and it will let you discover a lot about yourself.
Ryanair is great for cheap flights and you can go all over europe for a small amount, however, excess baggage is really expensive. Do not bring more things than you need, you will regret having to pay for it!
