the same like in Germany for me, but arrange it early. otherwise there will be only very small rooms

music bars are better then night clubs, e.g. Coco Lobo, there you can eat spanish and later you can danse, Latin and french music

in comparison to Germany no big surprises

If you're a student, you have to go abroad, you have to plan everything a little bit but it's a great experience and the best way to learn the language. You will become more independant and you learn a lot about yourself. Tip: Go a lot to the movies, afterwards stay in contact with some people to write Emails and letters, so you never forget the language... For your room or apartement you recieve money from the french governement, ask the student organisation AEMI, they help you. The first day you are in Metz you have to register in the office of the town, I forgot about this, but ask your tutor at your host university, it's important to go!!

In the beginning it is difficult of course, especially concerning normal life...but you have to meet french people, go out a lot, speak with them, they also learn languages...
