There are good train connections with the TGV from Paris (e.g. London, South of France) which are not too expensive. Start looking early for an appartment in French newspapers or in the Internet, ideally in the holidays before the beginning of the term.

Academic
Course recommendations
I found that perseverence was an important factor for success, as I was fairly disappointed with the standard of some of the courses and the way that they were taught. A few of my teachers appeared to have very little time for their students, though one or two were excellent.

Personal comments
Resources are quite difficult to access as a student- the library is limited, computer access is minimal, and the attitude of some of the teachers could be improved (though this may be more to do with their huge workloads). However, the courses cover interesting topics and materials, and are well worth the effort in the end!

Go to the "non francophone" classes if you are not a native speaker, because the majority of students in these classes are bilingual. Therefore, this is already a challenge, but at the same time, the lessons are still orientated towards French as a foreign language.

While in Paris, I believe that you can learn much much more by paricipating in the city's cultural life, and exploring, than concentrating solely on homeworks and university life.

Housing
Type of housing: private residence
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
