Student life
Fahmin M
Italy, Graduate
Business Studies, 2021
Overall
Student life in Italy is quite different compared to life in my country. Generally student life is such that if handled carefully, we can enjoy also learn everything that is essential for a good future.  That is why I  have to  be punctual and disciplined. Everything has a time and sometimes it is necessary to give complete time to one or other aspect of student life. Study is the main purpose and others should be maintained only at the side. So, I think if we  sacrifice a bit comfort and enjoyment for that, we should do it happily because if the future is good then all enjoyments will follow automatically.

Personal comments
Siena is small and has a lot of students, together with the italian mentality (mot a lot of organization) it wasn't easy to find the right place to stay...but never give up in Italy and you will get what you are looking for

Course recommendations
In Italy you get information very late (especially compared to Belgium) and you had to find out everything yourself. Besides this, the professors were very friendly, much more informal than in Belgium.

Maybe the information could be better, but I thing this is always a bit a problem when you study abroad.

Personal spending habits
First of all, the exchange rate at the time was still favorable for the US Dollar. But in a small town in Italy, food and housing just cost less than in the States; to be fair, of course, I was equipped with very modest housing in Siena. Transportation is much more well developped, so travel was so much cheaper and more practical, it's almost silly.

Personal comments
No significant surprises, really. Try to save any major traveling for the end of the trip, when you can visit the friends you've made in their homes. Thus, you can embark upon the "trip-of-a-lifetime," and spend a minimal amount of funds.
