The Italian burocracy is a nightmare - attempting to get the Permesso del Soggiorno in Pavia is a nightmare but be persistant and you'll get there in the end. One tip - go in a big group and try to get an appointment. it might take some persuasion but it'll pay off in the end as it'll save you hours or even days or queuing.

If you want to go travelling and if you are under 25 you should buy the "carta verde", a ticket which allows you to get cheaper train tickets (reduction 20-30%)for one year.

In most of these fields Italy is more expoensive than Germany. Concerning travelling it is clear that people travel more when they are abroad because they want get to know the country better. A part from that, it is quite cheap to travell in Italy...cheap trains and student reductions (Carta Verde).

The prices in Italy are way bigger than in Portugal! Besides I had expenses there I don't have at home like accomodation and international calls.
