Buy fresh fruit and veggies at small markets. The supermarkets charge a lot more for these items.

Going around Milano was great. You are an international student, but there are the places to go - Propaganda, Old Fashion Cafe, Corso di Porto Ticinese, Palo Alto on Corso Romana, the list goes on and on. It really does not matter the spot - the Italians are out all the time, in the streets, smiling and happy and just enjoying the company. You can also try the Navigli for a high concentration of places to go out at night.

I had a basic knowledge of italian prior to my exchange. Interacting with locals and immersing yourself in the culture really helps you improve your language skills.

Having spent alot of time in the South of Italy and therefore having a Southern accent when speaing Italian made a good talking point with alot of Italians who, at first, found it quite difficult to distinguish where I was from. I was lucky as many of the exchange students at Bocconi do not speak Italian and follow courses in English, this was the only difficulty I found as I am trying to improve my Italian.
