Personal comments
The similarities between Spanish and French makes you to find very easy to learn it. At the beginning I learnt a lot of new vocabulary, however from th third month on, it was just improving the pronunciation, uttering was more and more real and fluent.

I wish I had been prepared for the difficulty of getting to know the French. Perhaps experiencing the more open culture in the south would have been a more satisfying opportunity.

Be prepared for months of cold, rainy, weather and don't look for spring to arrive until June. Also expect to take on a lot of responsibility yourself, from academics to social life.
