Language of instruction: German
Was learning German a key decision factor?
No, it wasn't.
How much did you improve your German?
My level before: Everyday knowledge (shopping, directions, etc.)
My level after: At ease in most situations
Language difficulties
Administrative / Institutional
Personal comments
I did not face any problems at the university itself. However, in everyday life people from Bern speak a very difficult dialect (not understandable at all), so I had to ask them almost always to speak "Hochdeutsch".

It was diddicult to use german because there is a dialect in Bern and the people prefer to speak it. In the University it was almost the same problem but i did speak unfortuntly more english than german.

Final comments
Switzerland is a really nice country, there are a lot of places I would recommend to visit, cities such as Lucerne, Zurich, Geneve... It is the best place for winter sports. It is located in the center of Europe and there are quite good connections to other important cities in other countries, so travelling is almost obligatory.

Housing
Type of housing: Students Residence
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Students Residence
Why?
Single rooms, two-rooms shared bathroom, kitchen on each floor with kitchen facilities and internet wireless are the most important characteristics of the students house. Free access 24h, students and young people enviroment, very good quality/price and good connections with the center of the city.
