"The oldest university in the world-reviewed"
Anoyman
Italy, Graduate
, 2021
Overall
Ahhh yess the alma mater studiorum, the oldest university in europe if not the world home of the bologna process and all those "La vie en rose" sold dreams.
Truth is the university system is outdated to say the least, high preference for italian students in all aspects in international (english programs), theory, theory, theory, and did i forgot to mention it theory again, not good for engineering majors, more than half the professors'english is gibberish to say the least, and they are not very lineant on helping foreign students at least in the engineering departments.
Zero help for landing a curriculum internship, and job perspectives zero orientation and zero student professor co-operations the professor is simply the class' dictator.

Travelling by train it's quite cheap, but museums are expensive. Italy is a marvellous country, you are only 2 hours away from Florence and Venice. Come and enjoy it!!!

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
I would have preferred to have lived in the centre of the city because it was very difficult to go out on my own in the evenings; what with being a woman in Italy. Also the flats in town are more convenient when you have 6 hour breaks between lectures.

Most of it is very very ancient!!!! There is the story of a ceiling falling in on a 12th century apartment...My own personal accomodation was a bit of a concrete block and by March it was infested by ants and massive bugs of an indescribable nature??? Sharing a room was quite trying and it meant coming to terms with not being able to have one's own space...which can encourage you to climb the walls.
