Having arrived, barely able to understand a single word, I found myself 8 months later in the situation where I could confuse native italians as to whether or not I am Italian or English. I was shocked that I picked up the language so quickly..but I wouldn't change that for anyhting.

I spent less on food because in Italy eating well costs less. It increased my desire to learn how to cook. Travel was a heavy expense, mainly because there are so many wonderful places to visit in Italy that I tried to do so in my 8 months.
