The nicest place for a coffee & great and to relax: pois café, o café austriaco: alfama, right of sé (cathedral): rua sao joao da praca 95.
Lisbon is a quite big city and no "university town" - so of course there is not only student life. However, exchange students usually stick quite together.

in the quarter bairro alto there is one bar next to the other. there are several miradouros - point of views - with marvellous overviews and little bars or restaurants: miradouro santa catarina, miradouro graca. in alfama there is a restaurant called chapito which has a wonderful view.

There are some very good places where you can have fun in the Night: Docas, Santos, Oriente, Bairro Alto (Mezcal is the meeting place of the Erasmus students). There is also a very nice place in Alfama called Chapito and a very good "pastelaria" in Baixa Chiado called "Lua de mel"
