its recomendable to search for a language-school outside the university, too, because the course in universitiy includes all levels in one class. really good and cheap is the ecuela oficial de idiomas (institution of the ministry of education), courses of 3-4 months, 50 euro!

Course recommendations
if you don´t need a course especially for your studies at home, choose what you are interested in and what is not offered at your home-university. i f.e. chose photography and international relations, wich is not an "urgent" thing for me to study for getting credits, but it was so interesting and something i never could do at munich.

I picked up quickly the host language and by the time i had finished my course, my Spanish was so good that I suprised many spanish friends back home in London. Communicating in Spaish is easy for me as my native language (Italian) is a latin-derived one.
