Try to find a cheap flat in the centre, than you dont need taxis and so on...in the morning hours rice at GranVia is very good and cheep:-)

It is not easy to get a house where you can use the telephone. I was lucky that where I lived there was a meter and my roomates were trusting.

A nice apartment can be rented for the same price as a grotty student house in UK. CLothes and shoes were much cheaper so I stocked up big time!
